Artist Trading Cards

BIRD POND TURTLE
Each year Eastern Painted Turles lay eggs in my flower garden. It amazes me because the mom has to travel from Bird Brook, thru the woods, past the stone wall and 300 yds uphill. The babies then manage to return to the brook. Amazing

God Bless America
This was a first for me. It was fun and I think I will do some more for Christmas ornaments.

"Penny Posie"
What a great idea. Will be fun to trade and see the different cards.

"Best Bug - Ladybug"
This was so much fun, looking forward to the trade.

First Ripe Pumpkin
I'm a primitive hooker, and I was happy to discover that I can use a wider cut and still squeeze a design onto a trading card. This, my first card, was a fun, portable project. I really did harvest my first ripe pumpkin already. Is summer truely almost over??

Owl Eyes
I had envisioned this piece as two crescent moons with colors swirling off. However, as you can see, it looks more like eyes!

1830s Lady in a Yellow Dress
I volunteer at Old Sturbridge Village and the time period they represent is the late 1830s. The back ground uses yarn that was dyed with logwood, a popular natural dye of the time. The beaded necklace is supposed to represent the red coral necklaces that were fashionable for its day.

INUKSHUK #2
Inukshuks were originally created by Inuit people of Canada as guideposts in the far north. Today they have become a symbol of friendship and hospitality of Canada.

Road Trip - Vacation

Mermaid
I love mermaids. This is my seventh -- I've even done a mermaid in the desert, titled "Mermaid at the Oasis."

The Big Apple
This is the first in a series of ATCs featuring designs related to New York City

Nashville Cat
A cool jazz cat inspired by the hit sixties song

The Bling in the Moon
I had lots of fun making the ATC's. I made a dozen, with no two alike. This one was inspired by my love of colour & all things that sparkle.

TIGHR ATC: Log Cabin Sunset
This is #3 of a series of 6 New England Landscapes

Yellow Dog
My ATC's are all called "Yellow Dog" and numbered in ascending order of being hooked. My real dogs are Golden Retrievers, hence "Yellow Dog".

5 Petal Posies

Sunflowers in two
I chose to combine two of my favorite mediums, rug hooking and watercolor painting. This project was fun and has lead to the creation of many more ATCs. Some are a combination and some are rug hook alone in a variety of subjects.

Island Cherries
This card inspiration came from my cherry orchard on Middle Bass Island, Ohio. It i s my summer home where I can waterski, fish, and do textile arts. I am a beginning rUg hooker and quilter. I would love to trade cards and hear your stories of inspiration

Birdie In The Spring
My love of birds and bird houses was my inspiration for this ATC card.

Lady Sunset Series, #2/8
I made a series of 8 ATCs from wools I used to create my rug Lady Sunset. These are meant to be tiny fragments or "shares" of my rug Lady Sunset. So I call them "Share Art". My backs are cream linen printed with this information.

Support Our Troops
This was fun!!

Sassy Starfish
My label on the back is made of muslin, stamped with a cute design, and I've handwritten my name, address, etc. It is hand stitched to the back of the ATC. Besides Sassy Starfish, I am making a red heart with silver heart buttons, and a bright blue and yellow design with fancy beads. I can "surprise" you with a design as I find it more fun to make a variety of designs.

Pink Lady
Fun idea, so once I got started I made ten!

Heart Throb - TIGHR ATC2
This was my first attempt at fine hooking. Using a bag of "gifted worms" (that means they were free, not smart) and no drawn pattern. I sat in Anne-Marie Littenberg's class and listened to her genius hoping something would be absorbed into my wide-cut primitive self. By golly, I think I like this.

Small Fraktur Flower
Using a common fraktur color palette, this Small Reward will be a treat for someone, just as the schoolmaster's watercolors were in the late 1700's. Google frakturs for more background

Coneflower
I couldn't resist buying these colorful nylons, and I knew that ATCs would be the perfect way to experiment with them.

Paper Doll--Flower Child of the '60s
Paper face was machine sewn onto the wool and linen. Beads and buttons were hand sewn onto the piece.

Give the Dog a Bone
For ATC iron on labels: Avery # 3384 Printable (cotton) Fabric sheets for Ink Jet printers. Create a *custom template which makes 9 labels per sheet. *custom template: top margin .25”, side margin .25”, label height 3.5”, label width 2.5”, vertical pitch 3.5”, horizontal pitch 2.75”, number across 3, number down 3, page size 8.5” x 11”
